Rolling with the punches

Well the Holidays came and went with a bang. First off my wife's B-Day is in December so she knows how to make shopping tough on a guy! Second I'm here in Colorado visiting family and its negative 22 degrees outside. I now remind myself why I live in Arizona and promise to never complain of those 110 degrees days.

I have been overwhelmed with questions and phone calls about my decision to not participate in the Bassmaster wild card event to help participate in cancer research. Yes I was aware that BASS would not let me back into the Elite Circuit. Yes I was aware that they would skip over my 87 place finish and go down to 106 to get people to compete. Yes I knew that they would extend the field to the open anglers instead of protecting there own. No surprise here after all we are dealing with ESPN here, the same company who takes pride in there Jimmy V Cancer foundation but cans their own angler who stands for helping others with the disease. Go figure! In this sport there are no excuses, you are responsible 100% for your actions. I simply did not fish well enough to requalify to the standards and rules of BASS. I believe that things happen for a reason, NO REGRETS.

On the positive side I'm thankful for the press that BASS has supplied to me and my sponsors. They continue to run a great circuit with a loyal list of manufacturers behind them. I will miss the anglers but not the events (probably because of my butt whooping on the water!)

Take it from me life is short, sometimes much shorter than you ever expected. I now learn to expect the unexpected and slowly roll with the punches that life in general will bring. Get out and enjoy the day, regardless it's a beautiful one!
